Suspect arrested after fatal Cambridge shooting: police

A 19-year-old male with a gunshot wound was pronounced dead at a home on Birkinshaw Drive in south Cambridge Saturday night, said police.

A teenager is dead and a suspect has been arrested after a shooting in Cambridge Saturday night, according to Waterloo regional police.

Officers responded to a home on Birkinshaw Rpad in the south end of the city around 9:20 p.m. after receiving reports about shots being fired.

A 19-year-old malewas found with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene, said police.

A search began for an 18-year-old from Cambridge, who police said they had the grounds to arrest and charge with second degree murder. Roughly 24 hours since being called to the scene, police tweeted that they had arrested a male in connection with the case.

They didn't say whether charges had been laid.
