Liberal Raj Saini re-elected in Kitchener Centre

Raj Saini, Liberal incumbent, has been re-elected in Kitchener Centre with 37 per cent of the popular vote.

Mike Morrice, Green candidate, had26 per cent of the popular vote.

Stephen Woodworth, Conservative candidate, had23per cent of the popular vote.

NDP's Andrew Moraga received about 12 per cent and People's Party candidate Patrick Bernierwon two per cent. Ellen Pappenburgof the Animal Protection Party received 0.4 per cent of the ballots.

Riding

Sainiand Woodworth last faced off in 2015, when Saini won the seat from then-incumbent Woodworth.

Kitchener Centre was redefined in 2012, when it gained territory from the former riding of Kitchener-Waterloo and lost territory to Kitchener-Conestoga and the new riding of Kitchener South-Hespeler for the2015 federal election.

The riding has around 83,000 voters.

2019 candidates

Liberal Party: Incumbent Raj Saini, who was elected to Parliament in 2015 and is a registered pharmacist

Conservative Party: Stephen Woodworth, who held the seat from 2008 to 2015. He is a former lawyer.

New Democratic Party: Andrew Moraga, an ecologist and environmental researcher.

Green: Mike Morrice, founder of Sustainable Waterloo Region.
