Pilot vaccine clinic opens inElmira at primary care office

Waterloo region has launched a pilot COVID-19 vaccine clinic at a smaller primary care office in Elmira.

Waterloo region has launched a pilot COVID-19 vaccine clinic at aprimary care office in Elmira.

The Elmira Family Health Organization started vaccinating eligible patients on Saturday. It's not open to the general public but officials are reaching out to those who can book an appointment.

Ina release issued Saturday, the region said primary care vaccination clinics are one of five clinics being implemented by the local COVID-19 vaccine task force.

"As the vaccine supply increases, residents will have more opportunities to get vaccinated at primary care locations and pharmacies Primary care providers have a critical role to play in the vaccine rollout, including encouraging vulnerable and marginalized individuals to get the vaccine," the release said.

According to the release, this is the first pilot of a COVID-19 vaccine clinic in a smaller primary care office in the region.
