Man arrested after driver robbed of vehicle and personal items in Waterloo

A man has been arrested after a driver was robbed of his vehicle Sunday night, Waterloo regional police say.

Accused facing charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, robbery with a firearm

A man has been arrested after a driver was robbed of his vehicle Sunday night, Waterloo regional police say.

Just after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report that a man was robbed of his vehicle in the area of Holbeach Crescent in Waterloo.

Two men allegedly approached the driver, showed a handgun and stole the driver's personal belongings along with his vehicle.

"[The] vehicle was rear-ended by a black SUV before being stolen at gunpoint," police said in a tweet on Monday.

Police say they were able to locate the vehicle shortly after and one man was arrested.

He is facing several charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, robbery with a firearmand impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

There will be an increased police presence in the areas of Holbeach Crescent and King Street N. on Monday as officers conduct an evidence search.
