Bombardier to pay $2.2M to Region of Waterloo for LRT delays

The region will be receiving extra LRT vehicle and $2.2 million in compensation from Bombardier for delays in the delivery of LRT vehicles.

Region will also get an additional LRT vehicle at no cost

Bombardier will pay $2.2 millionfor delays in delivering LRT vehicles to the Region of Waterloo. Bombardier will also supply an additional LRT vehicle at no cost, increasing the permanent vehicle fleet to 15.

Regional council accepted the plansThursday night during a council meeting.

"The additional vehicle to the ION fleet will provide additional capacity and reliability to passengers," the region said in a release.

In2016, the regionlearned LRT service wouldn't start until early 2018due to delays. Further delays resulted in the service launching in June 2019.
