Kitchener woman charged in alleged hate-motivated assault

Police say a 49-year-old Kitchener woman has been charged after an unknown female allegedly yelled racial slurs at a person then 'subsequently punched them in the chest' on Friday.

Police were called to Mooregate Crescent and Hazelglen Drive around 4 p.m. on Friday

A 49-year-old Kitchener woman has been charged in connection with a hate-motivated assault.

Police say they were called to the area ofMooregate Crescent and Hazelglen Drive in Kitchener around 4 p.m. on Friday for reports of an assault.

"The victim was approached by an unknown female who began yelling racial slurs at the victim. The subject then proceeded to push the victim and subsequently punched them in the chest," a release from Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) said.

The victim did not sustain physical injuries, police say.
