Purse snatcher preys on woman at Kitchener bus shelter

Police say a thief stole a woman's purse while she was alone in a Grand River Transit bus shelter in Kitchener's Bechtel Drive area.

Police say the thief drove off with the woman's purse in a white SUV towards Doon Village

Waterloo Regional Police say a woman is unhurt after a purse snatcher wrenched her hand bag away while she was alone in a Kitchener bus shelter.

Investigators say it happened shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday while the woman was waiting for a bus on Bechtel Drive in the city's south end.

After prying the woman's purse away, the thief ran to a white SUV and drove off, police said, heading in the direction of Doon Village.

The man is described as white, about 20-years-old, five-foot six-inches tall with a slim build.He was wearing a black hoodie and jeans.

His vehicle is described as a white or possibly silver SUV with roof racks.
