Man, 25, charged with 2nd-degree murder after 51-year-old man found dead in Guelph apartment

On Tuesday,officers were checking on the well-being of a tenantin an apartmenton Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue when they found the man's body.He was pronounced dead on scene. Police believe he died on or about Oct. 21.

A man has been charged with second-degree murder after a 51-year-old Guelph man was found dead in his apartment about two weeks after it's believed he died.

On Tuesday,officers were checking on the well-being of a tenantin an apartmenton Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue when they found the man's body.He was pronounced dead on scene.

Police believe he died on or about Oct. 21.

"Following a thorough investigation, which included a post-mortem examination, the death was ruled a homicide," Guelph Police Service said on Friday.

Police charged a25-year-old man of no fixed address with second-degree murder. Police say he was already in custody on unrelated charges.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
