Cyclist killed north of Guelph identified

Police have identified Richard Lane, 48, of Fergus as the cyclist who died after being hit by a vehicle on Wellington Road 7, north of Guelph, Tuesday morning. (Wellington OPP)

The cyclist who was struck by a vehicle and killed Tuesday morning north of Guelph has been identified as Richard Lane of Fergus.

Lane, 48, was cycling on Wellington Road 7 around 6:30 a.m. when he was hit, police said. Lane was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision occurred between Wellington Road 51 and Eighth Line.

Police said the investigation is ongoing. Wellington OPP are asking anyone who was driving on the road at the time and saw the cyclist, or who might have dashboard camera footage of the cyclist or the collision, to contact them.
