Kitchener launches winter activity series to keep people busy

The City of Kitchener wants to make sure people can stay connected over the winter months by launching its Reimagine Winter series.

The City of Kitchener wants to make sure people can stay connected over the winter months by launching a series of safe winter activities, virtual programs and attractions.

The series, called Reimagine Winter, is aimed to strengthen community connection, while alsocombating social isolation due to COVID-19.

"We are all tiredof COVID-19 and I know that like me, many of you are looking for new ways to gather, socialize and ,celebrate in new ways so as to stay healthy and connected this winter,"said Kitchener mayor Berry Vrbanovic in a release.

"While the health and safety of our whole community remains our number one priority, the pandemic is inspiring us to think about creative ways to enjoy our great city."

Events this month include some of the city's traditional favourites in a new way, such as the virtualChristkindlMarket, which was expanded to run 24 days this year.

Outdooractivities includethe Christmas Fantasy light display in Victoria Park, skating at outdoor rinks andtobogganing.

Indoor activities include virtual cooking and baking classes with the Kitchener Market or taking part in the city'sonlineNew Year's Levee.
