Kitchener man arrested after weekend shooting in Cambridge

A 33-year-old Kitchener man has been arrested after another man was shot in Cambridge early Saturday morning.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service says officers were called to the area of Dolph Street and King Street E., in the Preston area of the city, at 2 a.m. on Saturday for reports of a disturbance.

"Further information revealed that a male suffered minor injuries as a result of a gunshot," police said in a release.

On Wednesday, officers arrested the Kitchener man. The man was also wanted in connection to "recent incidents" throughout the region, police said, with charges from those cases including assault causing bodily harm, dangerous operation, flight from police and breach of probation.

In relation to the shooting on April 27, the man has been charged with discharge pistol with intent to endanger life, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm and assault.

The man has also been charged following "an incident" on Sunday. Police say those charges include sexual assault, robbery and several firearms-related offences.
