Cambridge MPP Belinda Karahalios says she's tested positive for COVID-19.

Karahalios tweeted about the test result Sunday evening.

"I was sick for a couple of days but am feeling much better," she said.

Karahalios said the positive test result means she won't be able to enter Queen's Park until Nov. 30, which also means she'll miss a debate and vote on a motion that would allow the provincial governmentto extend or amend some emergency orders under the Reopening Ontario Act until March 28, 2022.

It's a motion Karahalios doesn't agree with and in a letter to supporters called it "undemocratic" legislation.

Karahalios has been outspoken in her criticism of vaccine mandatesand lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She was elected as a Progressive Conservative in 2018, but was removed from the caucus in July 2020 after voting against a bill that allowed the province to extend or amend some emergency orders a month at a time for up to two years without consulting the legislature.

She has since gone on to form the New Blue Party with her husband, Jim Karahalios.
