Cambridge consumption and treatment site study set to go before council again

Cambridge city council is set to discuss a consumption and treatment services (CTS) planning study Wednesday evening after it was put on hold in February.

The study, completed by Meridian Planning Consultants, was presented onFeb. 11during a planning and development committee meeting.

On Feb.18, council decided to deferany decision on the study options until after the ward 7 byelection, which was held in October. Scott Hamilton was elected in the byelection.

Thestudy providescouncil with different options forhow council could go about deciding where to put a potential CTSsite.

The planning study also reviewedfederal and provincial criteria forCTS, as well asland use.

During Wednesday's meeting, council is not expected to makea decision on a potential location.

"The process of evaluating potential locations for a possible consumption and treatment services site will be completed by a separate city-led project team after a decision is made on the planning study," the city said on itswebsite.
