Over 100 volunteers search for missing Wilmot Township man

Andreas Pfenning, went missing on Monday while he was out goose hunting and hasn't been seensince.

Elizabeth Peloza, a friend of the Pfenning family, and her partner Matthew, organized a search party around the Nith River near ChristnerRoad in New Hamburg, Ont. They have been looking since Wednesday morning at 7 a.m.

"They want their son home," said Peloza, referring to her friends, the Pfennings. "So just feet on the ground, eyes on the water."

More than 100 people from the community showed-up to help. Volunteers are searching by foot through trails and are also taking their own boats out on the water to look for Pfenning. They even brought together a table full of foodto feed the search effort.

Pelozasaid the "turn-out has been amazing."

"It's been quite heart-touching to see how much support there is," she said.

'An amazing person'

Pelozasaid Pfenning is "an amazing person" who "loves the outdoors."

"He could always make you laugh was dedicated to his family and friends," shesaid. "And was just a complete blessing to know."

Pelozalives in London, and is a mother of three. On Wednesday morning, she drove for more than an hour to WilmotTownship to help out her friends.

"If you have kids, hug them them extra hard and be grateful for what you have," she said in tears.

OPPand WRPS called off search

WRPSand the OPPareno longer searching the area forPfenning.

"We scaled back our ground search because we have conducted quite an extensive search of the area ground, water, air but unfortunately those efforts have not resulted in a location of him," said Cherri Greeno,spokesperson for WRPS.

Greeno saidpolice will be meeting to discuss some other search options. She saidthe investigation is still "very active."

"We are still hopeful that we are able to bring some closure to the family," said Greeno.
