COVID-19 outbreak at Hamilton spin studio Spinco climbs to 80 cases

Public health says 50 primary cases (48 members and two employees) have been confirmed so far, along with 30 secondary cases such as family or friends who came into contact with people infected at the spin studio onJames Street North.

The number of COVID-19 cases linked to Spinco Hamilton climbed to 80 cases onTuesday.

Public health says 50 primary cases (48 members and two employees) have been confirmed so far, along with 30 secondary cases such as family or friends who came into contact with people infected at the spin studio onJames Street North.

That's two more cases than the day before.

Spinco is one of 11 ongoing outbreaks in Hamilton, including the one at Radius, a restaurant where the number of cases has jumped to six staff members.

The city's website shows anew outbreak was declared atAmica Dundas, a retirement home, onMonday after a staff member tested positive.

Thirty-four newcases of COVID-19 were reported by public health Tuesday, based on data reported to public health the afternoon before.

The city has seen 1,559 cases since the pandemic began. Of those, 146 are active, 1,346 (88 per cent) are resolved.

Forty-seven people have died.
