Hamilton man bragged about robbery, waved money around: police

A Hamilton man who allegedly bragged about the spoils of a recent robbery not far from the scene of the crime now faces criminal charges, Hamilton police say.

A Hamilton man who allegedly bragged about the spoils of a recent robbery not far from the scene of the crime now faces criminal charges, Hamilton police say.

The incident happened just after 11 p.m. on Monday, police say, at the Pioneer gas bar at 603 King Street East.

According to a police news release, the man went into the store demanding cash and brandishing a deadbolt lock.

Police say the man was given a small amount of cash before he ran off and leftthe "weapon" behind.

Investigators say witnesses in the area saw the man leaving the store and, "bragging about the robbery while waving the money in his hands."

Officers and police dogs searched the area and found him not long after.

A 33-year-old Hamilton man now faces robbery charges.
