Dwayne Bride had eggs thrown at him before he was killed: Hamilton police

Hamilton police are looking for two young men, possibly both teens, in connection to the stabbing death ofDwayneBride early Saturday.

The two men were seen riding mountain bikes.

Police said Monday, Bride was involved in an argument before being stabbed. During that altercation, someone from a nearby building threw an egg that struck Bride.

The 42-year-old, died Saturday, the victim in Hamilton's fifth homicide of the year.

Bride, fromHamilton, was found on the sidewalk in the area of Hess Street South and Bold Street just before 3 a.m. Saturday.

He was taken to Hamilton General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police now know Bride was involved in an argumenton Bay Street South in front of an apartment building located at 136 Bay Street South.

This prompted someoneon the east side ofhis building to throw eggs atBride. Police are now looking fortwo suspects.

Police are asking for the egg tosser(s), or anyone else who may have witnessedthis part of the altercation, to call them.

According to police, a concerned citizen was passing by and stepped in to defuse the situation.

Other witnesses

Two suspects on mountain bikes then moved to the intersection at Hunter Street and BayStreet.

Police say it is known that a group of three other people passed the cyclists as they werestopped at that location.

Police are asking those persons to call in with anyinformation.

The two cyclists then returned to Bride's location on Bay Street wheretheverbal altercationcontinued as they travelled Westbound on Bold Street from BayStreet.

Police say it is believed that Bride was assaulted by these two individuals andafterwards they left the area on their bikes.

The two males were last seenheadingeastbound on Bold Street from Bay Street.

Police released descriptions of the suspects.

The first is described asa white male, 5'9"thin build, 16 -20 years old, between120-150lbs, withshort light brown/blonde hair.

He waswearing a light grey hoodie, cargo shorts and light colouredsneakers. This male was riding a newer mountain bike.

The second person of interest is described as a slender white made between the height of 5'6" and 5'8"weighing between 120 and150lbs.

He has brown cropped hair and was reported as wearing a purple or burgundy-coloured hoodiewith a possiblelogo and jean shorts.

He was was riding a newer mountain bike as well, possibly red.

The description also includes a freshly acquired egg stain on the back of his hoodie.

No weapon has been found

Police say Bride was with family members in the east end of the city until around 10:00 p.m. Friday night before catching a bus downtown.

Police say he was at "an establishment" in the area of Wentworth Street South and Main Street East. Bride was believed to have been there until at least 1:15 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Det. Sgt. Peter Thom told CBC in an email the name of the "establishment" isbeing withheld for investigative purposes.

"As a result of the media coverage a number of witnesses have come forward," said Thom, Monday morning.

Thom says investigators are out downloading video today and are in the processes of developing suspect descriptions.

As of yet, no weapon has been found.

Police used the Canine Unit in the area of Bold Street and Hess Street in an unsuccessful attempt to locate a weapon.

Police are asking residents around the area to look out for any sharped-edged weapons on their property.

Police are also encouraging the person(s) involved in the altercation with Bride to contact them to provide their version of the incident.
