Teen expected to survive after north end shooting

A teen was taken to hospital after he was shot at a public housing complex in the north end of the city Tuesday night.

A teen was taken to hospital after he was shot at a public housing complex in the north end of the city Tuesday night.

Police were called around 7 p.m. to the area Ferrie Street off James Street North. Officers found a 17-year-old victim bleeding on the corner of James and Ferrie.

According to Hamilton EMS official Hal Klassen, the 17-year-old was treated for his wounds at the scene and then taken to hospital. His injuries are described as non-life threatening.

Witnesses in the area were located and interviewed, police say, and police dogs were brought in to search for a suspect and evidence.

The victim "became uncooperative" with officers while at the hospital, and has provided very little information about what happened, police say.

Division One Detectives are continuing to investigate and say they feel there is no danger to the public.
