Roughriders jersey is on the way for Hamilton's mayor

Mayor Bob Bratina has to wear a Saskatchewan Roughriders jersey now that Hamilton has lost the Grey Cup. And the jersey is on its way.

The 'Rider green garment is en route from Saskatchewan along with a media release, Bratina told councillors at a city hall council meeting Wednesday. When it arrives, he has to wear it during a council meeting, as well as donate the combined weight of Hamilton and Regina's mayors to that city'sfood bank as a result of the lost Grey Cup bet.

Mayor Bratina congratulated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in a formal presentation during the council meeting.

On behalf of the citizens of Hamilton, thank you for not only a great season but for the quality and character of the football team, Bratina said.

It would have been easy to walk away grumpy after the Grey Cup loss last weekend, Bratina said. But the team was classy.

The team was disappointed, said Ticats president Glenn Gibson.

But I think within 24 hours, everyone started reflecting on the season and what a wonderful run we had to get into the Grey Cup.
