'Armed and dangerous' man wanted after Stoney Creek shooting

Police are searching for a man they say is armed and dangerous after fight between two groups of men in Stoney Creek ended in gunfire Wednesday afternoon.

Police are searching for a man they say is armed and dangerous after fight between two groups of men on aStoney Creek street ended in gunfire Wednesday afternoon.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 23-year-old Kadhem Abdulrahim. Police say he has a weapon and is dangerous.

"If any member of the public sees this man you are being asked to dial 911 immediately," a police news release reads. "Do not approach this man. Your safety is a priority. Please phone police."

Abdulrahimis described as Middle Eastern, around five foot two to five foot four inches tall and about 140 pounds. He is wanted on charges of discharging a firearm, careless use of a firearm, assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, and breach of probation.

Abdulrahim is wanted in connection with a shooting incident that happened in the area of Delawana Drive and Centennial Parkway around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police, a fight broke out between two groups of men, and escalated when someone pulled a gun and started shooting at a vehicle.

Police say some of the people involved sustained minor injuries in a fight prior to the gun being drawn.

"No members of the public or police were injured during this incident," Const. Steve Welton said.

Three men have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. A 23-year-old Hamilton man and a 22-year-old Hamilton man have both been charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and mischief under $5,000.

A 19-year-old Hamilton man has also been charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, breach of recognizance and breach of probation.

Two vehicles police believe were involved have been seized and are currently being examined.

Police say they have interviewed a "large number of witnesses," but still have many more to speak to.

Officers are searching a residence on Delawana Drive to look for more weapons and police say they expect to be there for a couple of days.
