Longtime police spokesperson dies of breast cancer

Catherine Martin, a longtime police spokesperson for Hamilton police, has died of breast cancer.

She was 52-years-old.

Martin's obituary says that she "passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family" on Tuesday "after a hard fought 12-year battle with breast cancer."

She had been the Corporate Communicator for the Hamilton Police Service for the last 12 years. Martin also worked in Public Relations for St. Joseph's Hospital, The Realtors Association of Hamilton and Burlington, and The Hamilton Conservation Authority.

Long an avid figure skater, Martin's obituary says she now "has time to relax, watch figure skating and perfect her triple salchow."
