Hamilton Bulldogs cut Commodore

The Hamilton Bulldogs announced Wednesday they have cut defenceman Mike Commodore from the team. He was in a 25-game try-out contract with the Bulldogs but they ended the contract early.

Commodore, 33, had just returned on Friday from the Montreal Canadiens training camp with six other Bulldogs. He told CBC Hamilton this weekend that he was unsure what the future held for him.

"I've got a lot of thinking to do," he said. "I need to ask some questions as to how they view me in the organization."

"I like being down here and working with the young guys, but if I'm viewed upon as a guy to just stay down here and be the veteran guy in the minors, then I have some decisions to make on how to approach that."

Commodore play 17 games for the Bulldogs, recording two assists and 26 penalty minutes.

His time in Hamilton wasn't uneventful. He had hispocket picked at Jackson Square. It happened on his first day in the city. The thief nabbed his new iPhone 5. He had owned it for just five days.

Currently in last place in the AHL, the Bulldogs also cut assistant coachRon Wilsonon Tuesday, citing a "difference in philosophy."
