Hamilton marks largest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases with 162

There are currently 41 active outbreaks in the city, including new ones reported Tuesday at Connon Nurseries in Waterdown, Mission Services Shelter overflow in east Hamilton and Orchard Terrace Retirement Home.

Previous record of 161 cases was reported on Dec. 17, according to citys website

Hamilton is reporting162 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, marking the largest one-day jump in cases since the start of the pandemic. The previous record of 161 cases was on Dec. 17, according to the city's website.

The city is reporting three new deaths and 913 active cases.

There have been a total of 12,730 cases and 312 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

There are currently 41 active outbreaks in the city, including new ones reported Tuesday at Connon Nurseries in Waterdown, Mission Services Shelter overflow in east Hamilton and Orchard Terrace Retirement Home.

Hamilton Public Health Services says 93,889 vaccine doses have been administered as of the end of day on Monday.

Mohawk College reported four new cases associated with its Fennell Avenue campus on Tuesday. The affected students last attended school on March 23 and March 24.

Halton to take vaccine bookings from 65+ Wednesday

Halton Region announced Tuesday that, starting Wednesday, residents aged 65 and older would be able to book vaccine appointments. It said appointments were available in April.

The region has administered 63,563 doses of vaccine.

COVID-19 cases in Halton Region rose by 86 on Tuesday, to a total of 10,903. The region has 429 active cases, an increase of 38 from the previous posting. There were no new deaths.

The region is reporting632 variant cases, an increase of 41 in one day.

Haldimand-Norfolk

Haldimand and Norfolk countiesare reporting four new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total case count to 1,629. There are 78 active cases, a reduction of seven fromthe previous day, and no new deaths.

A total of 18,896 doses of vaccine have been administered, with 1,622 people having been completely vaccinated.

Brant

Brant County reported 29 new cases on Tuesday, bringing its total to 1,788. There are currently 84 active COVID-19 cases, an increase of 16. Three people are in hospital with the virus, an increase of one.

Thirteen people in the county have died from the virus.

Brant has administered25,113 doses of vaccine with 2,570 people completely vaccinated.

Niagara

Niagara Region is reporting 65 new cases on Tuesday, bringing its total case count to 9,618. As of Tuesday, the region had 523 active cases, an increase of 12.

No new deaths were reported in Niagara on Tuesday.

Niagara Public Health has administered 22,750 doses of vaccine as of Tuesday, while Niagara Health the hospital system has administered 43,983.

Six Nations

Six Nations of the Grand Riverhas currently recorded five active cases of COVID-19. There have been 438total cases, and 424are resolved. Ninepeople have died.

One person iscurrently hospitalized as a result of COVID-19.

A total of 1,1726people have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 142people have received both doses.
