Right now Dr. Samantha Hill, president of the Ontario Medical Association, says "we are all indanger. We must implement our strictest level of public health measures."

Live at noon on Thursday Dr. Hill and Dr. Amit Arya, a palliative care physician at McMaster University and the University of Toronto, describe what they see as the most urgent actions the province needs to take to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Ontario Medical Association is calling for five actions from government:

  • A government stay-at-home order, meaning people leave their homes only for essential business such as medical appointments, grocery shopping and outdoor exercise
  • Closure of all non-essential businesses, although curbside pickup should remain an option
  • Immunization of all essential workers and disadvantaged workers, and residents of hotspots
  • Paid sick leave for essential workers
  • every Ontarian should take the first vaccination offered to them.

Dr. Hill and Dr. Arya will respond to your comments and answer your questions. You canwatch and participate live on this page.

What should the Ontario government be doing right now to keep people in the province safe? How should the vaccine rollout have been handled? Should the Ontario government mandate paid sick leave? What needs to be done to halt the third wave?
