69 new cases of COVID-19, 1 more death reported in Hamilton on Thursday

Hamilton Public Health Services says 69 new cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the city, bringing the number of total active cases to 561.

There are 561 active cases and 22 current outbreaks

Hamilton Public Healthsays 69 new cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the city, bringing the number of total active cases to 561.

Hamilton has seen 3,360 cases over the course of the pandemic (both probable and confirmed), of which 2,689 have been resolved.

A total of 236 people with the virus have been hospitalized so far, including 22 who were in hospital Thursday.

Ninety-four people who had the virus have died.

The most-recent death was a woman in her early 80s who was living at Grace Villa. Shedied on Dec. 2, according to public health.

There are currently 22 COVID-19 outbreaks in the city, including thefollowing:

  • 10 at institutions.
  • Three community outbreaks.
  • Seven workplace outbreaks.
  • Two outbreaks at schools or daycare centres.

Haldimand Norfolk

One new case of COVID-19 has been reported in Haldimand and Norfolk.

The counties have tallied 665 positive cases throughout the pandemic. Of those, 40 are active and 588 recovered.

Thirty-two deaths are considered COVID-related.

Brant

There are 67 active cases of COVID-19 in Brantford and Brant County.

The area has recorded 531 confirmed cases so far, with 459 that are resolved.

Eight of those cases were reported within the past 24 hours.

Eight people with the virus are hospitalized and five have died.

Halton

The number of cases in the Halton Region rose by 58Thursday for a total of 3,848during the pandemic.

Public health data shows 766cases are active and 2,016are recovered. Sixty-six people have died.

Eighteen of those deaths have been in Burlington.

The city saw 25 more cases Thursday.

Niagara

Sixteen outbreaks in Niagara were ongoing Thursday.

The region has reported 2,211 cases, of which 210 are active and 1,916 are recovered.

Eighty-five people have died.

1,824 new COVID-19 cases in Ontario

On Thursday, Ontario reported 1,824 more cases of COVID-19. The number of patients with confirmed infections in the province's intensive care units rose to 203, according to a report by Critical Care Services Ontario.

The number of patients in intensive care is notable because public health officials have said that 150 is the threshold for when unrelated schedules and procedures may be cancelled to accommodate the influx of COVID-19 patients.

Thursday's new cases include 592 in Peel Region, 396 in Toronto and 187 in York Region.
