Conestoga College will be expanding the number of programs at itsBrantford campus after acquiring three new properties in the city.

The three new locations include 50 Wellington Street, 39 Nelson Street and 220 Clarence Street.

Brantford city council approved the sale of the three properties to Conestoga last week.

"Meeting the growing demand for post-secondary education needs is an important part of the city's community strategic plan and a primary objective of theGraduate Brantford initiative," said Brantford Mayor Chris Friel in a press release.

According to the college, through their expansion in Brantford and the variety of programs, they're expecting to attract 500 new students this September.

"The addition of new facilities will help us serve an increasing student population in Brantford by expanding our delivery of programs that will provide students with the skills and knowledge required to address community needs and support the city's growing economy," said Conestoga President John Tibbits in the release.

Conestoga says its making substantial investments in both personnel and facilities this year to address a growing demand.

According to the college, other projects underway include the expansion of the Waterloo campus, a new applied research hub in the Gaslight District in Cambridge, and a new campus in Milton to be established in partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University.
