The Screen for Life Mobile Coach is giving people a new avenue to get screened for cancer even at work.

The coach, which is a bus that offers cancer screening services, is offering mid-to-large size companies the ability to get free examinations, right at work.

"Finding cancer early makes a huge difference in outcome," said Dr. Meghan Davis, medical lead.

The program is aimed at employees who don't have a family doctor or nurse practitioner, or who face other barriers to getting screened, be it transportation, culture, or otherwise.

"For lots of reasons, people don't have access to regular primary care," Davis said.

The bus is staffed by a team of Regional Cancer Program registered nurses, medical radiation technologists and a booking clerk, and can be parked in most company lots.

Largely, the team looks for breast, cervix and bowel cancers. Now, the onus is on local businesses to contact them and book dates to be available for employees.

"We're hoping workplaces will contact us," Davis said.
