SIU says it's investigating police shooting of Burlington, Ont., man

A 43-year-old man was shot by a police officer at aBurlington, Ont., apartment complex on Tuesday evening, says the Special Investigations Unit.

A 43-year-old man was shot by a police officer at aBurlington, Ont., apartment complex on Tuesday evening, says the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).

Halton police responded to a call near Dynes Road and Prospect Street, according to the SIU. They found a man with a firearm.

"There was an interaction" and an officer shot the man, says the SIU. The man was arrested and transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Police said on Twitter Tuesday evening there was heavy police presence in the area, that the situation was "contained" and thatthere was "no known imminent threat to public safety."

Three SIUinvestigators and a forensic investigator have taken over the caseas it is mandated to do for incidents involving police that result in death or serious injury.
