Worker critically injured in collision on Highway 403 in Burlington, police say

A construction worker has been critically injured following a collision on Highway 403 in Burlington, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say.

A construction worker has been critically injured following a collision on Highway 403 in Burlington, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say.

According to the OPP, the collision happened just after 4 a.m. on Friday in the eastbound lanes at Waterdown Road, and involved a construction vehicle.

Const. Timothy Dunnah told CBC News that a construction company was carrying out work on the highway when the collision occurred.

One of the company's workers "was on a piece of equipment when a motor vehicle entered the construction zone and struck that piece of equipment," Dunnah said.

The worker was taken to a Hamilton hospitalwith life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

All eastbound lanes of the highway were closed as police investigated.
