Travis Vader sat stone-faced in the prisoner's box Monday as a judge turned down his bail application.

Vader is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the 2010 deaths of Lyle and Marie McCann.

He was free on bail when his trial began March 8, though his bail conditions were reviewed in mid-April after he showed up late to court several times.

On May 10,Vaderwas taken into custody by Edmonton police and charged with possession of a stolen truck and break and enter.

Court documents show Vader is also accused of testing positive for methamphetamine and repeatedly contacting a friend who was a Crown witness at the murder trial.

On Monday afternoon, provincial court judge Lloyd Malin rejected Vader's bail request.

A publication ban requested by Vader's lawyer covers all submissions heard by the judge at the bail hearing, along with the reasons for the judge's final decision.

Vader can appeal that decision by taking it to Court of Queen's Bench.

Vader will be back in court late next month for closing arguments at the first-degree murder trial.
