Slain woman's common-law husband charged with murder

The common-law husband of a slain Morinville woman has been charged with her death.

The common-law husband of a slain Morinville woman has been charged with her murder, RCMP announced Wednesday.

On Tuesday, James Gary Urbaniak, 29, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Jessica Martel, 26, was found dead in her home on April 29 after police were called to the residence in the town 35 kilometres north of Edmonton.

An autopsy determined her death was a homicide.

Urbaniak has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 in Morinville.
