Experts to brainstorm solutions for fiscal crisis

Experts will have a chance to hash out Alberta's budget problems next month in Calgary, says Premier Alison Redford.

That's when Redford plans to hold an economic summit on Feb. 9th at Mount Royal University.

The summit will bean opportunity to brainstorm solutions to the province's reliance on energy revenues, she said in a news release Wednesday.

The summit will feature four moderated panels, each with three to five participants who have unique perspectives, she said.

These panels will focus on Albertas economy, balancing expectations on the services Albertans need, Albertas revenue mix andresponsible spending.

The province must find ways to improve spending andget Alberta off the roller-coaster of volatile energy revenues, she said.

Last week, Redford said falling oil prices in the U.S. market will take a $6-billion bite out of Alberta's bottom line next year.
