Red Deer home, vehicles, property seized as proceeds of crime

A home in Red Deer has been seized by RCMP, as additional charges are expected to be laid in an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

A home in Red Deer has been seized by theRCMP, as additional charges are expected to be laid in an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

The residence at 87 Towers Close, all of its contents, two vehicles and cash were seized as the proceeds of crime.

The seizure comes after an April 13 drug bust uncovered a large stash of illegalnarcoticsand street drugs.

Following tips from the public, a task force executed three search warrants simultaneously, one at the home on Towers Close, and two more at twounits of a duplex on Garrison Circle in the city's north end.

During the searches, police say they recovered two shotguns, eightkilograms of marijuana, 1.3 kilograms of cocaine, 388 ecstasy pills and almost 1.4 kilograms ofpsilocybin (magic mushrooms), onelitre of hash oil, 88 grams of hashish plus44 hash tablets, and about 240 oxy pills.

Also seized were$37,800 in cash, large amounts of drug paraphernalia and 21 cell phones.

Two men were arrested from the duplex, and a woman was arrested from the Towers Close home. Athird man was taken into custody in another location.

All three facecharges related to trafficking, illegal use offirearms, and possession of stolen property.
