Mounties ruined life, says teen at Ardrossan murder trial

The teen once charged in a double murder near Ardrossan east of Edmonton four year ago says undercover Mounties ruined his life.

"All the money they're paying me, they're basically ruining my life," said the teen now considered a hostilewitness for the Crown. "(They) got me kicked out of my aunt's house. If I walked out the door I'd be homeless."

The teen was grilledby the Crown prosecutor Wednesday morning about the confession he gave to an RCMP officer posing as a crime boss in a sting known as "Mr. Big."

Police believe the teen and his friend killed Barry Boenke, 68,and Susan Trudel, 50,in June 2009 after escaping from the nearby Bosco group home when the boys were 14 years old.

Last year, the teen, then 17,had a final meeting with Mr. Big wherethe supposed crime boss gave him an ultimatum.

"It was down to business," explained the teen. "'If you tell us, we can make it disappear. And you can come and work for uspermanently.'

"'I'll help you out or you're out the door.'"

Theoffer was attractive belong to a gang, get an apartment and money, or face homelessness sohe started to lie, he said.

He told them he saw his partner, who's now on trial for murder, shoot and killTrudel and Boenke.

Today the teen testified the whole story about the murders was a lie, based on evidence he heard at the preliminary hearing.

"I just made up a whole huge story for this guy," he told the court. "I lied to him because I didn't know he was a cop."
