Kaetlyn Osmond back training in Edmonton after breaking leg

After missing all of last season due to a broken leg,KaetlynOsmondis back inEdmonton to trainfor the upcoming season.

"It's absolutely amazing to just be able to train full time, being healthy and being able to compete again,"she said.

"I feel a lot stronger than I've ever been. I'm healthier. The aches and pains aren't there as much as they used to be."

The former two time Canadian National champion says she's feeling better than ever since she broke her leglast yearrequiring surgeryto insert a metal rod.

"Overall on the ice, Ijust feel stronger and more confident with everything I'm doing," she said. "Last year we had to bring everything back to the basics and it just made everything that much better."

After a lengthy period of rehabilitation andphysiotherapy,Osmondsays she'sready for the coming year.

And so far the year is off to a dream start.

On SaturdayOsmondwon gold with a personal-best score in women's singles in her 2015-16 season debut at theNebelhornTrophy figure skating competition inObertsdorf, Germany.

"I still made so many mistakes, but it just means there's a long way to go this season and since Ialready got a personal best with a couple of mistakes, I'm excited for it."

The 19-year-oldOsmond, who is originally fromMarystown, N.L., but now lives and trains in the Edmontonarea, wonboth the short and long programs.

Osmond is now training fortwo important grand prix competitions,one on home soil in Lethbridge, Alta., next month, to befollowed by the 2015 NHK trophy in Japan in late November.
