John Day's vision for the Kelly Ramsey block

When it comes to developing buildings that blend modern and historical elements, John Day has quitea track record.

The former real estate lawyer is the developer behind Cecil Place, at the corner of Jasper Avenue and 104th Street and the remake of the Garneau Theatre.

He also stepped in after a massive fire destroyed several buildings in the heart of Old Strathcona in 2003.

Day is now turning his attention to the 80-year-old Kelly Ramsey block on Rice Howard Way, which was badly damaged by fire in 2009.

Day recently spoke to the CBCs Mark Connolly about his plans.
