Escaped prisoner wanted in Ontario apprehended by Alberta RCMP

An escaped prisoner wanted on warrants in Ontario has been apprehended by RCMP at a Leduc, Alta. bank.

An escaped prisoner wanted on warrants in Ontario has been apprehended by RCMP at a Leduc, Alta. bank.

Philip Robert Crosby, 48, escaped from the Thunder Bay district jail on Oct. 11, prompting a lockdown at nearby schools. An arrest warrant was issued for Crosbyon Oct. 21.

According topolice, he escaped the Ontario jailthrough a service entry as deliveries were being made.

Following a tip that Crosbywas spotted inside a CIBC branchon the corner of 50th Street and 50th Avenue, Leduc RCMParrested him without incident.

Crosbywas in custody in Ontario for driving offences, resisting arrest,and breach of court orders, Thunder Bay police said. Hefaces multiple other charges out of Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

RCMP say Crosbywill remain in custody pending a judicial interim release hearing.
