Edmonton Marathon on Sunday causing major road closures

Many roads downtown will be closed Sunday due to the Edmonton Marathon.

The road closures start Saturday when Jasper Avenue is closed all day between 97th and 99th Streets. The race starts and ends at the Shaw Conference Centre.

On Sunday, the day of the marathon and half-marathon,Jasper Avenue will be closed between 95th and 108th Streets from from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Other parts of the race route will be closed as well. That includes 108th Street, 102nd Avenue, 118th Street and Stony Plain Road.

Drivers are told to expect major traffic delays downtown and west to 136th Street.

Many Edmonton Transit bus routes that go through downtown will be detoured.
