Police investigate fatal motorcycle collision in southeast Edmonton

A motorcycle rider is dead after a collision with a car Sunday morning in southeast Edmonton.

Collision occurred in intersection of 75th Street and 101st Avenue

A motorcycle rider is dead after a collisionwith a car Sunday morning in southeast Edmonton.

Police confirmed the motorcycle was stolen.

The collision happened in the intersection of 75thStreet and 101st Avenue at around 7 a.m.,the Edmonton Police Service said in a media release.

Police say a Mercury Marquis was travelling south on Wayne Gretzky Drive before turning east on 101st Avenue. The motorcycle was travelling north on Wayne Gretzky Drive at the time of the collision.

A man was driving the motorcycle and a woman was riding as a passenger. Both were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.The man died in hospital.

The Major Collision Investigations Section was at thescene of the collision Sunday morning and the area wasshut down for investigation but has since reopened.
