Child, 2, rescued from hot car in southeast Edmonton

A two-year-old child was rescued from a hot car in southeast Edmonton Monday afternoon. The child was taken to hospital. The condition of the child is not known. Fire rescue personnel broke a window to free the toddler from the car.

The fire department confirmed to CBC that the temperature inside the vehicle was 52 C.

Emergency medical services responders and policewere also at the scene.

Police said the toddler's mother locked her keys inside the vehicle.

The outside air temperature was about 25 C in Edmonton.

No charges have been laid, police said.

In 2013, a three-year-old Edmonton girl died after climbing inside a vehicle during a heat wave.
