Alberta to finish Anthony Henday ring road

The Alberta government is moving forward on building the final leg of the Anthony Henday ring road around Edmonton.

Companies are going to be asked to submit their bids over the next three months.

Premier Ed Stelmach called the project the mostcomplexin the province's history.

Nine kilometres of new highway needs to be paved and 18 kilometresof existing road, Highway 216,needs to be widened to six and eight lanes.

The project will require 47 new bridges, including oneover the North Saskatchewan River.

Construction is expected to begin next year and be completed by 2016.

The project will be a public-private partnership so no cost estimates are being released right now.
