Canmore RCMP investigating fatal hit-and-run on Hwy 1

A 20-year-old Canmore womanhas died after a hit-and-run on Highway 1 Sunday morning, said CanmoreRCMP.

A 20-year-oldwomanhas died after a hit-and-run on Highway 1 Sunday morning, according to a news release from CanmoreRCMP.

Police said the female pedestrian was declared dead at the scene.

The woman was found in the eastbound lane ofthe highwayafter police received a callSunday morning from someone who said they saw "something suspicious" on the road, said Cpl. Gina Slaney.

"So police responded and that's when the body was discovered."

It isunknown what time the woman was hit by a vehicle.

The eastbound lane of the Trans-Canada Highwaynear the Canmore Visitor Information Centre was re-opened after being closed temporarily whileRCMPinvestigated.

Canmore RCMP are asking anyone who may have information to contact them or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
