Are you ready for snow? Because it's coming, says Environment Canada

Snow is falling in the Rocky Mountains today, and it doesn't plan to stop there.

A low pressure system is expected to bring heavy snowfall to parts of western Alberta this week, according to EnvironmentCanada.

Snow is likely to hitMonday night and continue into Wednesday.

"Current indications are that the heaviest snow will fall from Nordegg to Pincher Creek. Areas east of this line may see heavy snowfall up to 10 cm," the agency said.

Snowfall warnings have been issued for the areas of Banff and Jasper national parks, Kananaskis, Canmore and Nordegg.

"Current indications are that the heaviest snow will fall from the Icefields parkway south to Kananaskis, and in the Nordegg region," the agency said.

Those areas are likely to see 10 centimetres of snow Mondayin the higher terrain. Fifteen to 30 centimetres of snow is expected to fall by the time the snow lets up late Tuesday.

• City of Calgary
• Airdrie-Cochrane- Olds - Sundre
• Cardston - Fort Macleod- Magrath
• Crowsnest Pass - Pincher Creek - Waterton Lakes National Park
• Okotoks - High River - Claresholm
• Rocky Mountain House - Caroline

Drivers are being warned to expect poor driving conditions on highways near and west of Calgary on Monday night and Tuesday.
