Calgary police say homicide detectives are still investigating a toddler's death that happened one year ago.

Mackenzy Woolfsmith was 21-months-oldwhen she died from serious injuriesshe suffered at a private day home on the100 block of Elgin Heath S.E. last May.

The medical examiner's office,which hasdeemed her death suspicious,says the toddler died from multipleblunt force trauma.

"Investigators have serious concerns following the medical findings and the suspicious circumstances around Mackenzys death," police said in a release.

Police saythe only adult at the home atthe time of the incidenthas not been co-operative.

'Nothing will lessen our heartache,' says family

Detectives are re-interviewing witnesses and neighbours as part of the investigation.

Police were originally told the young girl had fallen down some stairs.

She was taken off life support two days after she was found unconscious and not breathing at the day home.

"We want the truth for Mackenzy regardless of how hard it is for us or our families. We have been in contact with the police throughout the last year and want them to have all the necessary information to reach the right conclusion," said the toddler's family in a statement.

"Nothing will lessen our heartache over the loss of our little girl, but we do want closure around her death so that we can focus on remembering her and the wonderful times we had as a family, as well as raising her new little brother. We miss Mackenzy every moment of every day."
