Tiny house in Bowness backyard must move, Calgary bylaw informs owner

A Calgary woman is hoping to reach a resolution with the city over her tiny home in Bowness after she was told she would have to move it.

NancyShadlock says the city approached her aftersomeone complained about the 200-square-foot houseon a flatbed trailer in a friend's backyard.

The city classifies it as a trailerbecause it has wheels, andit's against the rules to live in a camper in the city.

Shadlock says her councillor,Ward Sutherland,supports tiny houses as another form of affordable housing.

"I hope that Ward can really fight for it and make it a feasible option for people," she said.

"I have a lot of people that have contacted me and want to build similar dwellings and live in the city like this."

Shadlock says she's going out of town for the summer,so living in it won't be an issue.

She hopes it is sorted out by the time she gets back in the fall.
