Southern Alberta thunderstorm brings lightning, hail, flooding and even snow

Extreme weather wreaked havoc inSouthern Alberta Tuesday afternoon, after Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the region.

Here's what it looked like.

The sun all but disappeared over Northwest Calgary.

It wasn't quite the size of a golf ball, but hail did fall in Turner Valley.

Flashes of lightning lit up the sky.

And painted the horizonall sorts of vibrant colours.

It even struck a building in Connaught around 4:45 p.m.

Snow blanketed Jumping Pound, just west of Calgary.

Roads in Lakeview couldn't escape the flooding.

Neither could drivers in Oakridge.

And Southland Drive was shut to traffic both ways at 24 St. S.W.

But once the rain stopped,some people broke out the floaties.
