Calgary police seize nearly $400K in drugs, stolen property

Calgary police have seized drugs, cash and stolen property worth nearly $400,000 after a two-month investigation.

The investigation started in August when police learned from a separate operation that a house in Panorama Hills in the city's northwest might be involved in drug trafficking, police said in a release.

On Sept. 19, police acted on a warrant to stop and search a vehicle that was travelling from Calgary to Brooks. They seizedapproximately $160,000 worth of methamphetamine and $10,000 worth of fentanyl, according to the release.

A second search warrant was carried out on Sept. 29 at a house in the 100 block of Pantego Rise N.W.

Police say they found more than 800 grams of fentanyl, 370 grams of methamphetamine, 673 grams of phenacetin, 31 grams of MDMA as well as a 12-gauge shotgun and stolen vehicles.

Three people face numerous charges:

• Richard Luc Cormier, 42.
• Robert Bienkowski, 33.
• Tanis Kras-Milligan, 37.

"This investigation diverted a large amount of drugs off of our streets and we continue to target drug traffickers in our city," said Staff Sgt. Kurt Jacobs.

"We know that there is no such thing as a safe street drug, and our investigators are committed to removing as many harmful drugs from our community as possible."
