Worker dead after falling several storeys at construction site

A man is dead after falling several stories at a construction site in southwest Calgary on Saturday, EMS said.

A man in his 30s is dead after falling severalstoreys at a construction site in southwest Calgary on Saturday, an EMS spokesperson said.

Calgary police said they were called to the 7500 block of 4a Street S.W., located near Macleod Trail, at approximately 10:30 a.m. to reports of a worker falling.

EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux said emergency crews attempted to provide aid upon arrival but withdrew the efforts and pronounced the man dead.

The incident is now under investigation by police and Alberta Occupational Health and Safetyofficials.

"Regrettably, co-workers were witness to it, so that's all part of the investigation as well," Brideaux said.

No additional information was immediately available.
