Calgary man charged with sex assaults on 3 girls previously convicted of similar offences

A Calgary man accused of sexually assaulting three underage girls has been released on bail. CBC News has learned he has a history of sexual offences against minors.

A Calgary man accused of sexually assaulting three underage girls has a history of sexual offences against minors, CBC News has learned.

Stacey Shibley, 56, wasreleased on bail Friday.

He had been arrested Wednesday and charged with three counts each of sexual assault and sexual interference plus five other offences.

His alleged victims are a 12-year-old and two 14-year-old girls.

Police say Shibley bought gifts, drugs and alcohol for the teens.

Bail granted Friday

On Friday, Shibley appeared before Provincial Court Judge Paul Mason.With consent from both Crown and defence, Masonreleased the accused on a number of conditions.

Shibley must abide by a curfew and cannot have contact with anyone under the age of 16.

He is also banned from contacting the alleged victims or going near their homes and schools.

In 2006, Shibley was convicted of juvenile prostitution and sexual assault.

The recent investigation began after family members of two of the girls reached out to police with concerns over the teens' social media interactions.

He is accused of driving the teens around the city and sexually touching them when they were alone.

Shibley's case is set to be back in court in mid-October.
