Snowfall forecast for Banff has skiers celebrating

Snow expected in areas surrounding Banff National Park this weekend has some people celebrating as they get ready to head out to local ski hills.

Flurries expected in the mountains over the weekend

Snowexpected in areas surrounding Banff National Park this weekend hassome peoplecelebrating as they get ready to head out to local ski hills.

Drivers are being cautioned to take their time when heading west.

Snowfall warnings ended for many areas near the mountains west of Calgary on Friday afternoon, but flurries arein the forecastoverthe weekend.

"Rain showers changing to snow this evening and ending before morning, then mainly cloudy," said Environment Canadaon its website.

There is also a chance of flurries on Saturday afternoon and a 40 per cent chance of snowfall on Sunday.

Calgary's forecastsays there is chance ofrainperiodically through the weekend, but those showerscould turn to snow on Saturday night.

But many ski resorts in the area are welcoming the weather.

Norquay, Nakiska and Lake Louise are already open, andSunshineVillage will be opening with four lifts on Saturday.

Castle Mountain in southwest Alberta plans to open in early December.

A large dump of snow also hit many resorts just over the border in B.C.
